Plum, Blood
There's no better name to describe how the thick, succulent juice of this plum drools down your face, like blood on a vampire's face. But this is sweet, life-giving blood...with loads of vitamin C, some iron, fibre, vitamin A and K.
Plums belong to the same family as peaches, nectarines, and apricots.
- Freshest in summer. Australian plums are available between November and April.
- Good for salad, snacks, dessert, jam, marinades.
- Store in airtight container / bag in fridge when they're ripe. If your plums do not smell fragrant and are hard to touch, leave them in a paper bag to ripen at room temp.
